Traveling home…and back to reality
So, day 9 of my trip was the travel home day, and let me tell you, after taking both an overnight Red Eye there and a day flight home, the Red Eye is the way to go! I had to get up at 5am to make sure I had enough time to make my 9:15am flight from Amsterdam to Newark. The flight was 8 hours, and I landed in Newark at 11:45am.
Time difference is such a trip, isn’t it? 😉
Unfortunately I couldn’t sleep on the plane, so I was so tired in Newark for my 3 hour layover, I was almost weaving back and forth! I actually met up with a classmate of mine in the Newark airport who was coming back on the same flight, which is a great example of just how small the world really is! The flight back was pretty awful, only a few hours but the seat was really uncomfortable and I couldn’t get comfortable or even tilt my seat back to try and sleep. Cleared customs without a problem though, and trust me, I was pretty happy to see my bed when I got home!
This trip was so amazing – absolutely the trip of a lifetime, and I can’t recommend Contiki enough to students looking for a little travel adventure. They really know their stuff, and I was 100% satisfied with my guide, driver and experience. I feel like doing one of those trips is a great introduction to travel, as you get deals for groups, metro passes and info on how to use them, and great insider suggestions for locations and sights to check out, which makes traveling in a foreign place so much less stressful. Overall, I have 100% caught the travel bug, and I can’t wait to take my next trip, which will be the month in the summer, and is now probably going to include a 12 day Contiki trip in the middle of it, because that was how good of an experience I had 🙂
Now, however, I’m back home and back to reality, where the jet lag is kicking my butt a bit, and I’m back in my winter parka as Newfoundland limps oh so slowly into spring, but I’m so glad to be home as well!
Oh, and on my first day back, I found out I passed that exam I was worried about!
Can’t think of a better way to end my trip, can you? 😉
